Drs. Janet Horn and Robin H. Miller PDF Print E-mail

Dr. Robin Miller and Dr. Janet Horn met on the first day of their fellowships at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1983. For three afternoons every week over the next two years, they had sour coffee, greasy food, and long chats at the hospital café. Despite their being on opposite coasts for most of their medical careers, their talks have continued for the past 25 years.

Dr.Janet HornDr. Janet Horn is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, with training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Much of her career was spent in solo private medical practice during which time she cared for thousands of women patients.  For many years, she was also on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she was a full-time faculty member early in her career. Dr. Horn has been recognized by Baltimore Magazine and The Consumer’s Guide to Top Doctors as one of the top doctors in Baltimore and in the United States.  She has been named by The Maryland Daily Record, based upon her professional achievement and community service, as one of the top 100 women in Maryland.

Dr. Horn completed her undergraduate work, magna cum laude, at Vanderbilt University, where she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She received her M.S. degree in physiology and biophysics at Georgetown University. Her M.D. degree was received at George Washington University School of Medicine, where she was selected to be in Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. After finishing her fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, she became a full-time faculty member there, during which time she authored numerous journal articles concerning her research, which related to women's' health issues, sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS. When she started her solo practice, she remained a member of the clinical faculty at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as an Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Horn has been a frequent lecturer to medical audiences and to the public about many health topics. Currently, she divides her time between medical writing and practicing medicine at The Shepherd’s Clinic, which serves the uninsured.

robin millerDr. Robin Miller, in addition to being an experienced Board Certified Internist, is also an Integrative Medicine specialist, having trained with Dr. Andrew Weil as a Fellow at the University of Arizona. She is the founder and medical director of Triune Integrative Medicine, an innovative medical clinic in Medford, Oregon.  She is an award winning medical correspondent on regional and national television, radio, and the internet, the author of a health book for children, Kids Ask the Doctor, and a board member of The National Association of Medical Communicators, a society of medical journalists in all media. She is also an Assistant Professor of Medical Informatics at the Oregon Health Sciences University.

Dr. Miller received her B.S. degree from the University of Michigan with High Honors, where she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, and her M.D. degree from the University of Illinois School of Medicine. After completing her postgraduate residency at the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center, she did a fellowship in Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. While there, she also received a Master of Health Sciences degree at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Hygiene and Public Health, where she was named a Mellon Fellow. After several years on the fulltime faculty at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she published many medical articles on heart disease in women, she relocated to Oregon and practiced as a primary care and urgent care physician, in combination with serving as a member of the county and the State Task Force on Domestic Violence. Before founding and becoming the medical director of Triune Integrative Medicine where she currently works, she completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona School of Medicine. In addition to being a medical columnist for The Daily Courier in Grant’s Pass, Oregon, she currently can be seen as the medical correspondent for KOBI, the NBC affiliate in Southern Oregon and Northern California, and nationally on The Patient Channel and MSNBC.com.
