It’s 2010 and what are you willing to do to make it happen this year?
While spending some time with a girlfriend over the holidays she mentioned that she wants to make this year really happen for her; in fact she shared a movie title which was so unique and appropriate I thought I would title this article Our Bucket List
Movie legends Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman star in the “The Bucket List”. A movie that I recommend you all watch with a glass of Merlot and some hors d'œuvres, curled up quietly in your favourite chair with no interruptions what so ever!
Mechanic, Carter Chambers (Freeman) meets billionaire Edward Cole (Nicholson) in the hospital after both have been diagnosed with cancer. Carter begins writing a list of things to do before he "kicks the bucket." The movie is filled with humour and charm mostly importantly it addresses the things that we really want to do in our lifetime. Edward decides to help Carter to fulfill his life list.
Unless you have a billionaire in your life, keep your list realistic, simple and attainable without reservations. If you write it down you must follow through with it because if you don’t the price you pay through procrastination will haunt you for the rest of your life.
Oh, back to my conversation with my girlfriend, I got off track as I usually do that is the British in me ask my hubby. She decided to make it happen this year for certain goals she wanted to accomplish. So I asked her “Is this just talk or action?”, she replied “Action!”
We hugged as close girlfriends do and continued talking about it for a couple more hours. She had been talking about this list for as long as I have known her. In spite of health issues & the family stuff that will always come up in our journey of life she has now finally made a stand to fulfill her bucket list.
One of the things on the list that we will be doing together is skiing. Yes, this tall black woman is taking on the slopes a sport I have always admired but never had the nerve to try.
And we are schedule next week to take lessons ...pray for me.
We are getting older, wiser and let’s admit it, time is running out; we can play the procrastinating game for only so long them boom reality checks in with health problems and other circumstances.
So take the plunge and make 2010 a truly memorable year as you move towards your goals with:
Buck List Personal
Buck List Business
List what you want to accomplish under those headings and do not put anything on you list that you are not going to do in 2010.
Share it with some with trusted friends and make it happen ... you will never regret it.
Happy New Year! Joy Foster
